Sierra

What is Sierra?

Sierra is our Library Management System (LMS), which we use to check materials in and out, keep track of patron records, add new books/materials to our inventories, and communicate with other schools within our Consortium.

How do I access Sierra?

Click the Sierra icon on the computer desktop (if you're on the right-side computer).

Use the appropriate username and password as listed in Passwords and Pins for student employees

If you're on the left-side computer, access the Sierra web app here.

When should I use Sierra?

You will use Sierra any time a patron (student/staff/faculty):

  • Wants to check out a book
  • Would like to renew a book or see which books they have checked out
  • Has a question about their account or the books they have loaned out.

Fines or Late Fees in Sierra

At Park Library, we do not charge or collect late fees for items. If a patron tells you their book has been lost or damaged, contact Anne, Danielle, or Camille to assist.

Checking Out a Book:

  1. Switch “Function” to “Check Out (Circulation Desk)”
  2. Click “Search”
  3. Change search keyword to “Unique ID” and input patron’s Park ID number
  4. Click “Search” and the patron’s account will pop up
  5. Scan book or type barcode manually into search bar
  6. Click “Search”
  7. Book will be automatically checked out to patron!

Renewing a Book:

  1. Switch “Function” to “Check Out (Circulation Desk)”
  2. Click “Search”
  3. Change search keyword to “Unique ID” and input patron’s Park ID number
  4. Click “Search and the patron’s account will pop up
  5. Click “Checked Out Items” on the left sidebar
  6. Click the checkbox next to the item they would like to renew
  7. Click “Renew”

Checking In a Book:

  1. Change “Function” to “Check-In (No Patron)”
  2. Scan book or manually type barcode into search bar
  3. Click “Search”
  4. Item is automatically checked in!

NOTE: Do NOT check in MOBIUS (Interlibrary Loan) materials—just place these directly in the book return box next to the book lockers and Veronica will take care of it!
