Standards

  • U.S. General Services Administration: Section 508
    • The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Office of Government-wide Policy (OGP) is tasked under this law to provide technical assistance to help Federal agencies comply with these requirements, and ensure that covered ICT is accessible to, and usable by, individuals with disabilities.
  • Section 504, Rehabilitation Act
    • Section 504 is a part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that prohibits discrimination based upon disability. Section 504 is an anti-discrimination, civil rights statute that requires the needs of students with disabilities to be met as adequately as the needs of the non-disabled are met.
  • World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
    • The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards.
  • Higher Education Opportunity Act - 2008
    • This law, enacted on August 14, 2008, reauthorized the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965. This law contains a number of important new provisions that improve access to postsecondary education for students with intellectual disabilities.
  • Americans With Disabilities Act
    • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities that are like those provided to individuals on the basis of race, sex, national origin, and religion.
