The process for registering to vote can vary from state to state. Vote.gov provides information by state on how to register, important deadlines, and how to check if you're already registered if you're not sure.

Going to a physical polling location on election day isn't the only way to vote. USA.gov provides information on the difference between absentee voting and voting by mail to help determine what option might be the best fit for you.
Overseas voter resources are made available by the Overseas Vote Foundation to answer questions specific to American citizens who will not be in the U.S. for the election.
