Formula-based Search Engines

Unlike searching on regular text in online literature sources, searching on equations presents a challenge because equations that cannot be expressed in a single line or which rely on typrographic tools such as LaTeX or MathML or images cannot be managed in conventional search engines. A number of tools have been developed to address this challenge.

The EoM wiki is based on an electronic version of the "Encyclopaedia of Mathematics", published by Kluwer Academic Publishers until 2003, and by Springer after that. The encyclopaedia goes back to the Soviet Matematicheskaya entsiklopediya (1977), originally edited by Ivan Matveevich Vinogradov.
