Introduction

Welcome to your class guide for EN 221: African American Literature!

This guide will provide resources for your literary analysis paper through biographical information, historical information, cultural information, and general reference resources.

While there is a vast array of resources to study literature, the racial oppression of African Americans in the United States has led to considerably fewer resources to study African American literature. Web resources may be old or outdated, and scholarly resources may be limited. Park University has not historically prioritized the study of African American Literature, so library resources are limited but growing. This guide has collected a number of resources, books, and websites that may be useful in research about African American writers and African American literature.
