The American Meditation Society was founded in 1976 as a non-profit, non-sectarian educational organization devoted to the spiritual teachings of Gururaj Ananda Yogi. AMS is organized and maintained on a volunteer basis by its members.
The Meditation Initiative provides meditation classes and training for children, adults and seniors to help prevent stress and anxiety, improve focus and attention, and share tools for anger management while improving overall mental and emotional health and well-being.
The IMTA's mission is to provide guidelines and to oversee national and international mindfulness teacher education and training standards to ensure teaching and education programs continue to meet a level of depth and rigor needed to serve students and clients at the highest level and standardize the mindfulness teaching profession.
As a registered 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, The Association of Yoga Professionals aims to recognize those teachers who posses the knowledge, experience and skillset to teach yoga effectively, and to connect students or potential students of yoga with those teachers.
Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community, with over 7,000 Registered Yoga Schools (RYS) and more than 100,000 Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT) as of April 2020.
