Zotero Citation Manager: Installing Zotero

Install Zotero for Windows, Mac, or Linux. Compatible browsers include Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

Registering an account with Zotero will allow you to sync your library across more than one personal device, create and join groups, and access your library through the website.

Install Connectors 

Connectors allow your web browser to save citations to your Zotero library. 

The Zotero downloads page should automatically detect what browser you're using and give you a link. 

Each browser has its own version of the Zotero connector, so if you use Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari you'll need to install all four.

WINDOWS

Run the setup program you downloaded for Zotero 5.0 for Windows. The Connector must also be downloaded for Zotero to work properly.

MAC

Open the .dmg you downloaded and drag Zotero to the Applications folder. You can then run Zotero from Spotlight, Launchpad, or the Applications folder and add it to your Dock like any other program. The Connector must also be downloaded for Zotero to work properly.

After installing Zotero, you can eject and delete the .dmg file.
