Information about course reserves, information literacy instruction, class resources, and other resources for instructors

Course Reserves

Course reserves are copies of your class's textbook or other required materials placed in the library for short-term checkout. Students can check out course reserves for 2 hours at a time. In most cases, the textbook belongs to the class instructor and can be returned to the instructor at any time. The goal of course reserves is to increase students' access to textbooks by reducing their costs for purchasing course materials.

The library also provides access to over 250,000 ebook titles. While few of these ebooks would be described as traditional textbooks, some ebooks do overlap required course readings.

How can I place an item on reserve?

For a physical item, please bring a copy to the Library information desk for processing.

For an electronic item, simply contact us with the citation information and we will add it to our list of reserve items.

Can I see what is on reserve?

A list of course reserve items is available here.

Course Guides

Library guides tailored to specific courses are available upon request. These guides can contain infographics, instructional videos, and links to library resources specific to individual courses. For an example, see the EN 106 Class Page. If you regularly have assignments that utilize specific library resources, or have a research intensive course, your class may benefit from a course guide.
