The Research Process

Starting research can feel overwhelming--where do I even start? The important thing to remember is that research is supposed to be a messy process. You might change your topic after you see what kind of information is out there, or even find a great source that takes your argument in a completely new direction. That's all part of the process!

Think of research as exploration: you're testing out paths, finding new trails, and doubling back when you get lost. Keeping an open mind will make the process less stressful and will help you come up with stronger ideas along the way. If you get lost, don't worry--there are always strategies and people (like librarians!) who will help you find your way. Use the tabs to the left to guide you through the research process.
